About

I have long been told to write a book with all of my experiences. I tend to jump head-first into my dreams and end up researching them until I’m blue in the face.  We also seem to encounter situations that not many have experiences with.  Either way, I have a passion for telling stories…and most people learn from stories (at least I do!).  I enjoy problem solving and that is exactly what we do often on this little farm.  If you don’t try, you won’t know!

So there you have it, that’s how we ended up with a farm that is constantly learning and making PROVISIONS where necessary… and you know what all farms have in common no matter the animal?  PAILS.

Hence, here we are at “Pails & Provisions Farm”.

We run this little farm in a small rural town in Southwestern Colorado.  We believe in utilizing animals for their original intents and purposes.  We love managing the land and incorporating it into our mission of providing food for the table and raising our children in a life that most folks dream about.  We especially gravitate toward hardy animals that do well in our gorgeous climate of snowy winters and gorgeous summers.  We started this journey raising Jersey Cows and minimized down to a single Brown Swiss who provides our milk and butter.  She raises our beef calves and is queen of the pasture.  We recently included raising Kune Kune pigs as they are a great tri-purpose breed.  With this came raising an all around farm and family dog, the Bernese Mountain Dogs.  However, due to their ever friendly and loving personalities, they do not make excellent livestock guardian dogs.  This led us to the LGD breeds such as the Pyrenees, Anatolian, Sarplaninac, and a few others!  We currently are loving the Pyrenees/Anatolian cross.  Most importantly, they have become critical to keeping our stock safe.

Whether you are here looking for something specific or just checking us out, we hope you enjoy our journey!
